My favorite Italian restaurants in SF hands down. Im coming from a tradition of Italian food.. The focaccia Bread was brought to us with cheese, though I thought it was butter. The salad as a starter, had the bitter Chicory lettuce, Radicchio, and Friseé. It had long strips of Parmesan, though I had thought it was Anise root. Our main was a roasted fish, Snapper. Not a big fish person. It had been deboned, the flavor was mild, herbaceous, salty with the accompaniment of sauces(green Chimichurri). The side vegetables brought with fish, complements of the chef: red Jimmy Nardello peppers, and oily butter beans. Not unlike something I've had before, though Delfina does them well at dinner time.

Excellent Italian food with great wine and friendly staff. Sit at the counter to watch the kitchen in action.

What can I say....just an amazing dinner. This is an edit. Ate here again on 8.4.24. Had the ragu again but also the insalata di campo. Salad was amazing. Lots of bitter greens like I like. Perfectly dressed. And of course the ragu was unbelievable. On nothing to change in the original review I guess: Here restoring the Castro theatre so I'm exploring lots of food options but also not trying to break the bank which is easy to do in this town being from the Midwest. I figured I'd splurge a little bit tonight. I knew it was going to be good when they brought out the bread. The bread was amazing. And then the Taglietelle ragu was phenomenal. Literally the best pasta dish I've had since spending summers in Italy as a youth and young adult (my mother was from there, Genova, and my dad worked for TWA so we flew for free there every summer to go spend with her sisters family). Now....the serving size was not huge. But totally consistent with portion size for being more of a fine dining establishment. If one ordered an appetizer and/or a salad it would be more than enough food. In my case, I just changed my order for a single piece of bread to the four pieces (also because the bread was soooooo good. Literally I can't rave about the bread enough). And I'm perfectly content. Total is like $40 before tip. Just water for me of course. And the argue was too notch. Great was great. Knew the menu well. Anyway, very highly recommended. Definitely a great place to take a date or anniversary dinner or whatever. .

We have not visited this place in many years. The service the was great. Everyone there was super friendly and we got seated right away even though they were busy. The place has a great vibe. We did not order cocktails but they looked amazing. We ordered a couple pastas and were quite disappointed. They were just OK. We ordered an uni pasta that had a dash of uni and did not taste like it. We expected more from a $40+ pasta. The other pasta I don't remember because it was not special either. Well at least it wasn't a 40dl pasta! Not sure that I would come back for dinner. Maybe just pizza at the pac heights location tbh.
